Rao Mohar Singh College of Education, Gurgaon, was initiated in the year 1974 as one of the premier institutes for shaping the future of education. This co-educational college has sprawling surroundings on 4 acres of land and is an affiliated college with the approval of the National Council for Teacher Education, thereby ensuring quality standards in teacher education. The institute offers two specialisations with a total enrolment of 417 students, having a faculty strength of 14 learned teachers.

Rao Mohar Singh College of Education has several modern facilities in order to enrich the learning process of its students. In the core of academic facilities lies a semi-automated library with about 7,000 books, along with a good collection of journals, periodicals, and newspapers. A well-equipped IT infrastructure, including a computer laboratory with multimedia facilities and internet access, Holistic development of students is taken care of through facilities such as indoor games in the gymnasium, outdoor sports amenities, and an auditorium for the practice of cultural and seminar events. The health and safety aspects are taken care of through a dedicated health centre with first-aid facilities, and a college bus service is provided to ensure easy transportation to students.

Two such core teacher training programs are specifically undertaken at Rao Mohar Singh College of Education: the B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. Both of these are full-time courses for two years. The B.Ed. course offers 100 seats, and the D.El.Ed. offers an intake of 50 students. 

Admission to Rao Mohar Singh College of Education is merit-based, with the consideration of marks obtained in the qualifying examinations and/or entrance tests. In the case of a B.Ed. program, admission shall be made in accordance with the policy prescribed by the state government, UT administration, or the affiliated university from time to time. For this academic year, admissions usually become available two months prior to the start of the session. There are two top programs in the college: Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.), both of which are two-year full-time courses.

Application Process

Application process of Rao Mohar Singh College of Education, Gurgaon, is as below:

1. Notification: An admission notice by the college appears on its website and local news papers announcing commencement of application procedure.

2. Application Form: Application form is available for procurement by the aspirants from college campus or downloading from official site.

3. Form Filling: The applicant has to fill the application form carefully with his/her personal and educational information.

4. Document Submission: The applicants have to submit the following documents along with the properly filled-up application form:

  • Passport size photographs
  • Passing exam mark sheets (10th, 12th, and Graduation/Post-graduation if applicable)
  • ID proof
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Any other supporting certificates as defined by the college

5. Application Submission: Properly filled application forms, together with all supporting documents, are to be submitted to the college admission office before the date and time mentioned.

6. Entrance Test: Subject to the course of study and current admission process, the candidate may be required to take an entrance test by the state or associated university.

7. Merit List: On the basis of performance in qualifying exam and/or entrance test, a shortlisted candidates list will be prepared and put up on the notice board and website of the college.

8. Counseling and Admission: Shortlisted candidates will be called upon to report for counseling, where they will be asked to produce original documents and remit the appropriate fees for obtaining their admission.

9. Orientation: The successful admitted students will be required to go through an orientation program to acquaint them with the college, its infrastructure, and the course of study.

Degree wise Admission Procedure

B.Ed. Programme

The Rao Mohar Singh College of Education has 100 seats for the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme. The admission process in the B.Ed. programme is conducted as per the policy given by the state government, UT administration, or the respective university. The selection is made on merit basis with regard to marks secured in the qualifying exam and/or entrance exam. Those who have done their graduation or post-graduation in the respective disciplines are eligible to pursue the B.Ed. course.

D.El.Ed. Program:

The intake for Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) is 50. The admissions to D.El.Ed. are done according to the guidelines released by the UT administration or the state government. As for B.Ed., admissions are done on merit depending upon the marks secured in the entrance test and/or qualifying test. Candidates who pass 10+2 or equivalent examination can be admitted for D.El.Ed.
