Rourkela College or Rourkela Evening College is an established college in the higher learning of Rourkela, Odisha. This college was started in the year 1966 and has been catering the need of educational for more than five decades. The college is located in Sector-4, Rourkela and has a small and a better for learning infrastructure of an area of 1.08 acre land for its compact building. At present, the college has enroled 801 students and faculties which are 15; the institute offers 10 courses and 5 degree in liberal arts and commerce stream.

The college fully understands the need to deliver complete learning to college students hence, the provision of different facilities for the students to get full support in academic activities and other aspects of their lives. The librray is one of the vital institutions of the college of education as it houses books well arranged in sections and sub-sections to meet the various academic requirements of the college fraternity. For the sports enthusiasts, the college will also bring numerous facilities to enjoy the pomp of their games. For cultural activities and academics, the college owns an auditorium usable for seminars, performances, and meetings purposes. Understanding the need for exercise routine, Rourkela College has been provided with a gym so as to make sure that the students keep fit. In addition, there is sound IT provision in the college so that all students training their generation need for new technologies as well as up to date learning resources.

Rourkela College has a wide variety of full time courses available, the college mainly deals in undergraduate courses in Arts as well as Commerce streams. The institution offers 10 courses in different discipline they are B.Com (Accountancy) Hons, BA in Economics, English, Odia, History, Political Science, Philosophy etc, General BA, B.Com, B.Sc etc. These courses are offered in an effort to try to capture NIH academic interests and career goals, with a combined student enrolment of 801 across all programmes. 

Unlike before, where the admission process was determined by the individual colleges, it has been recently made centralised and based on merit and headed by some officials in Bhubaneswar. The preparation of merit list also involves the criteria in the marks secured, weightages and the various reserved quota. Of particular interest, merit applicants; be they from the reserved category or not are not included in the calculation of reserved seats. There is the weightage system where weight age cannot exceed 10% of the secured marks, and from total percentage of each stream 10% seats are filled up.
