Rudhraveni Muthuswamy Polytechnic College (RMPC) was established in 1997, is an affiliated college of Tamil Nadu situated in Udumalpet, Tirupur district. Situated in the vast integrated complex of 21.09 acres of area RMPC is accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education [AICTE]. The institute provides 6 diploma programmes under the umbrella of 1 degree level and with total enrolment of 591 students. I agree that RMPC has healthy student faculty ratio with the current faculty strength of 57. College also focuses in offering different branches of engineering such as Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and communications, computer science, Mechatronics and Garment technology.

RMPC also has some that can improve and complement the learning environment of the institution’s students. The college library has a rich collection of book materials which total 17,750;CD-ROMs, 350;and the College subscribes to twenty five journals. The campus has separate hostel accommodation for boys and girls and provides vegetables as well as non- vegetables diets. The institution provides adequate gym facilities for practice and essential in ensuring that the students keep fit. We also have a comprehensive camp that supports all our IT requirements for current day college learning. In this respect, RMPC offer transport facilities whereby college buses are made available from different points. Current facilities include a cafeteria that provides students with food and beverages at a relatively low cost and a shop that offers practically everything a student might need at even lower prices.

BDC offers a total of 6 full time diploma courses which are all three years in duration. The institute has a total approved student enrolment capacity of 420 across all the programmes offered. The Diploma in Mechanical Engineering has the highest enrolment capacity of 180 students, the other courses follow this order: Electrical and Electronics Engineering with 60 students, Electronics and Communication Engineering with 60 students and finally the Computer Engineering course also with 60 students. The college has also started newer programmes such as Diploma in Mechatronics Engineering and Diploma in Garment Technology having a total intake capacity of 30 each to match with the prevailing market trend.

However, the admission to join RMPC is conducted in line with the government regulation and only merit and community criteria are used to select students to join the programme. This is for all the First Year Diploma courses offered at the Institute.
