RV Training College, Valakom affiliated to Kottarakara, Kollam, Kerala was set up in the year 2005. This is a coeducational college and a institution for teachers which has a total area of 5.8811 acres of land for the campus. Recognised by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the RV Training College entails two post graduate professional courses in education. It took an average of 94 in students while the faculty consists of only 8 of staffs which makes it more appropriate for students willing to pursue a career in teaching. This is because the programmes offered at the institute are well chosen to provide quality education that meets the changing demands of the educational fraternity.

RV Training College has well-equipped general facilities intended to improve the college education of its students. The centre of these provisions is a sophisticated reading hall of the library that has a capacity of 50 students to support reading and researching. To enhance sports activities among the students and to ensure that individuals who love exercises are not left behind the college has provided for sports facilities for the students to use their free time. Being aware of the role of technology in the contemporary world of learning, RV Training College provides students with an excellent IT equipment. The campus has an auditorium to accommodate events and seminars to accommodate the active learning community. RV Training College offers two full-time courses: a B Ed programme with 100 seats for the regular course and a D.El.Ed programme with 50 seats’ for the distance mode for session 2012-13. The described programmes aim at developing qualified and highly paid professionals in field of education and teaching administration. The B.Ed programme takes two years and trains students in pedagogy and subject knowledge and the D.El.Ed programme of two-year training is specially meant for teachers of elementary classes. To this end, with a total of one hundred and fifty places in both courses combined, the college strives to prepare proficient tutors for deployment within classrooms throughout the country.

At RV Training College, admission is given on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination if any. For the B.Ed programme there is provision of admission according to the policy framed by the state government, UT administration and affiliated University. Likewise, the D.El.Ed programme admits students strictly on merit through a process that complies with the specific state government or union territory administration s norms.
