Saint Mary’s College of Teacher Education, Shillong Meghalaya is an established College, exclusively catering Teacher Education. This colleges has been training aspiring educators for more than eighty years since its establishment in 1937 and is co-educational. The college is an affiliated college and has the permission of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) for the provisions of the college. Actually located in a small area of 0.7454 acres, Saint Mary’s College is a compact institution and provides students with effective learning environment.

Saint Mary’s College of Teacher Education has adequate infrastructure in form of facilities to enhance learning and personal development of the learners. The facility of library interestingly emerges here as the primary source of intellectual repository a rich stock of books, journals and encyclopedia of diverse fields of study. The library has adopted ICT in running his activities through the adoption of an automated system using the Koha Integrated Library Management Software, whereby the students and other learners within the college network are able to access in the Online Public Access Catalogue. Regarding extra-curricular and physical activities the school provides with sports facilities for students. The college also appreciates the role of ICT in education hence allowing the use of information and communication technology to be part of the college’s normal teaching activities and the college offers computer and internet free of charge for use as well as other teaching facilities such as the audio visual equipment.

Saint Mary’s College of Teacher Education has specific specialisation on teacher education, and it currently has only one course, the B.Ed programme. This is a two-year full time course that has been approved to have a total of one hundred students considering the college’s policy of ensuring that it harbours adequate number of students per tutor.
