Samya Samaj Teachers Training College Medinipur, started in the year 2016, is an affiliated college situated at Gopalnagar, Kolaghat, Medinipur, West Bengal. This mixed school is affiliated with the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) and offers only teacher education courses. The college had been established at a very small standpoint of 1.35 acres; the college has two full-time courses with a student’s enrolment of 200. The institute maintains a student-faculty ratio of approximately 13:1, out of which 15 are faculty members providing dedicated services. Samya Samaj Teachers Training College is meant for offering quality education in B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. so that teachers training aspirants in the locality can join here.

The college has many amenities that were put in place to improve the learning environment of its learners. The computerised central library is also an important facility of the institute, which contains more than five thousand volumes on different disciplines of technology, management, education, and language books and teaching aids. It also offers facilities for technical journals for 7, periodicals, magazines, and daily newspapers. For skills practical, the college has functional science and social science laboratories. The science lab is dedicated to teaching physics, chemistry, and biology, and to assist in the teaching of history, geography, and civics, the social science lab has been equipped with a set of globes, maps, and samples. A fully air-conditioned computer laboratory with thirty-seventy full functional computers with internet connection; these are networked in a local area network where the students practice computational skills as well as use the internet for research purposes.

Samya Samaj Teachers Training College offers two primary courses: Bachelors of Education (B.Ed.) and Diploma for Elementary Education D.El.Ed. Two are comprehensive programmes, taking two years to complete each programme and are offered on a full-time basis exclusively. The college has an overall approved capacity of 100 students in the two courses, with 50 places open to each course offered. These courses are intended to produce teacher professionals who will teach at basic education, middle or junior high education, and senior high education levels.

Admission to Samya Samaj Teachers Training College is done on merit, considering the performance of the candidate in the qualifying and/or entrance examination. The college uses its curriculum with reference to the admission policies framed by the state government of West Bengal and the affiliated university. Candidates joining the B.Ed. programme has to undergo with marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or entrance test or any other procedures prescribed by the state government and/or this university from time to time. Likewise for D.El.Ed. admissions are done on merit, which means the marks obtained in the qualifying examination or entrance test as per the policy of the state government/UT administration.
