SMIT was set up in 1980 as an engineering college in Berhampur of Odisha state, it famous now as Sanjay Memorial Institute of Technology. This affiliated college, recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education, AICTE, New Delhi, extends its facility with a number of engineering programmes over its 22 acres facility. SMIT Berhampur, or as it is fondly called, has an intakes of 139 students and 46 full-time faculties & professionals. Academic programmes that are available in SMIT Berhampur are as follows They offer six full time B.Tech programmes in engineering. These are four-year undergraduate courses most of which are intended to produce 240 first-degree engineers in total. The programmes are B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering. There are different intakes based on the specialisation offered at the school and whereas Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering intakes are 60 then all other kinds of intakes are of 30 seats each. This kind of variety enables a student to pick his or her area of specialty of his or her choice in an area of specialisation.
