Sankardeva Mahavidyalaya, Lakhimpur was established in the year 1982 and is an affiliated college based in Assam, India. These majors are available in subjects such as Sociology, Political Science, Assamese, Economics, English, Geography, Hindi, History, and Education. During the last academic year, all its courses together had a total student intake of 506. 

The admission process at Sankardeva Mahavidyalaya is merit-based and follows the State Government Rules and College Admission Rules. Prospective students are admitted on the basis of previous academic achievements in examinations. The college does not have any entrance test and admits students purely on the basis of merit, prepared from the qualifying examination mark sheets. Notably, 100% share of students is from the same state. This asserts that the institution has a strong local character.
