SIST or Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology was set up in 2004 at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Located across an 25 acre area, SIST has evolved itself as a leading institute in the field of Engineering. The several courses available in the institute comprise of the various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes approved by the All India Council for Technical Education[ AICTE]. SIST has a total student strength of 398 and a faculty of 52 which assures students and faculties of proper ambience to enhance their academic skills on one hand and opportunities for innovation on the other.
SIST encompasses an excellent equipped spectacular laboratory to show off and enrich the viable learning environment for students. It has provided well-equipped laboratories for every department where practical knowledge is necessary for an engineering institute. The college library, an important part of any institution, provides books, journals, and digital source in large numbers. The students can get and read 19,805 books in an electronic format coupled with e-journals via the IESTC-InfoTrac Engineering Science & Technology Collection. The campus comprises of two hostels for boys and girls respectively with a maximum of 400 students in each. For those interested in exercises, prompt and comfortable gym has been provided for use.
SIST delivers a portfolio of 12 courses from two degree levels. The institute offers six B.Tech programmes and six M.Tech programmes, and all of them are regular programs. B.Tech offered programmes are Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering.
Admissions are competitive at SIST so that only deserving students are provided admission in the institution. For the B.Tech programmes, the college offers direct admission through scores achieved in the relevant entrance tests.

Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), Thiruvananthapuram, is the founder in engineering education in Kerala. The institute operates a sequence of undergraduate and postgraduate programs accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). SIST practices a rigorous admission process to find deserving candidates through competitive entrance tests.
For its UG programs, SIST is utilizing primarily marks of such entry tests that are relevant. B.Tech admission is also on the basis of marks of Kerala Engineering Architecture & Medical Examination. KEAM, normally conducted every April or May, has a scheduled exam within April 24 to April 28, 2025.
The basic eligibility criteria for B.Tech courses are successful completion of 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. For M.Tech courses, the applicants should have a B.Tech or equivalent degree in the relevant field.
Application Procedure
Application procedure at Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology varies as per the program:
For B.Tech courses:
1. Take the KEAM exam.
2. Seek admission through the centralized admission scheme conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala.
3. Fill up the application form, providing personal and academic details.
4. Provide required documents, including KEAM score card, 10+2 mark sheets, and other supporting certificates.
5. Pay the application fee as designated by the CEE.
6. Join the counseling process if selected.
7. On being assigned a seat, report to SIST for document verification and admission formalities.
For M.Tech programs:
1. Clear the GATE test.
2. Apply directly to SIST when the mode of application is open.
3. Fill the M.Tech application form on the institute's official website.
4. Upload necessary documents, i.e., GATE score card, B.Tech degree certificate, and mark sheets.
5. Pay the application fee as determined by the institute.
6. In case shortlisted, participate in the Test/Interview conducted by the college (only for non-GATE applicants or in case a few GATE-qualified applicants are not sufficient).
7. The decision is final based on GATE score and/or Test/Interview performance.
Degree wise Admission Process
B.Tech: SIST offers six courses of B.Tech in the following fields: Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. The admissions are based on KEAM scores. The approved intake of students for B.Tech courses is 210 students in total and Computer Science and Engineering has an intake of a maximum of 60 students.
M.Tech: The institute has six M.Tech programmes: Software Engineering, Computer and Information Science, Optoelectronics and Communication, Signal Processing, Geotechnical Engineering, and Thermal Engineering. Admission in M.Tech programmes is primarily based on valid GATE scores. If there are not enough GATE-qualified candidates, admissions are based on marks obtained in the qualifying exam and a Test/Interview conducted by the college as per the guidelines of the university. There is an approved strength of 9-12 seats in each M.Tech course.
