Saroj Mohan Institute of Technology, Hooghly: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Saroj Mohan Institute of Technology was established in 2003 and is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Technology, located in Hooghly, West Bengal. It also offers courses approved by AICTE in wide-ranging programs of a technical and management orientation. The institute caters to 275 students and 49 faculty members in its focused learning environment.

Modern-day facilities provided by SMIT include separate boys' and girls' hostels within the campus, each fully equipped with all the necessary living amenities, including playgrounds, common rooms, and Wi-Fi with high speed. A multi-gym is also available, where one can find a great number of treadmills and cycles that keep the students and the staff fit. The college library has a vast collection of approximately 30,000 books, periodicals, and journals to serve academic interests in all fields. Besides the classroom, SMIT has three playgrounds for outdoor games at the campus level, like football, cricket, and volleyball.

It offers a wide variety of full-time courses, such as B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, and Civil Engineering. The institute also offers courses in BBA, BBA in Hospital Management, and BCA. Apart from these, SMIT has various diploma courses in the field of engineering.  

The application procedure for entering into SMIT varies among different programs. For B.Tech courses, the candidate needs to have a valid rank in WBJEE, JEE Main, or direct JELET. While admission to diploma programs, one needs a valid rank in JEXPO or VOCLET. The admission is made on the basis of valid rank in JEMAT, MAT, or CAT; otherwise, direct admission can be offered. It accepts many national and state-level entrance test scores, including JEE Main, CAT, MAT, JEMAT, JEXPO, and WBJEE.
