School of Communication, XIM University, Bhubaneswar is an academic learning unit that focuses on producing Media professionals of tomorrow. Bounded with the XIM University since 2015, this constituent college has its operational campus in the known city of Bhubaneswar in Odisha. It provides a complete spectrum of programmes in mass communication for the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The institution has a faculty strength of 9, all experienced professionals to ensure every deserves quality attention and education. School of Communication offers 4 specialised courses and spans 3 degrees degrees to provide students with a tremendous option and choice the feel for media and communication.
Modern and resourceful facilities are utilised in teaching and learning to make sure that the students of the School of Communication have an improved learning environment. The campus also has a well-endowed library that has over 2,500 books, out of which they were able to secure books which focused on mass communication alone with all the available theories and practices that were in the market. It contains a number of feature films, short films, documentaries, as well as rare audio albums therefore, it became useful in students’ learning processes. The college laboratory also has the latest software technologies like Adobe Creative Cloud, Final Cut Pro, and Avid Media Composer so that learners actively can edit and make animations. For the purpose of accommodation, university has its separate hostel for boys andGirls’ so that it gives our students a homely atmosphere. It also has well developed and well maintained sports facilities such as basketball court, volleyball court, tennis court, badminton court, and futsal, a football cum cricket ground in balance with the classroom academic aspect.
School of Communication has developed a variety of courses therefore catering for different interests and career goals in mass communication. It offers fully accredited full and part time programmes for its students to cater for all the students needs. They are a 3-year B.Sc. (Hons) in Mass Communication, 2-year MA in Mass Communication and full-time/Part-time Ph.D. in Mass Communication. These programmes aims at offering students with the capacity knowledge of the current structure of media to enable them to perform well in this field.
The admission system used for the School of Communication is meant to choose students with passion and talents. The shortlisting for the Ph.D. programmes takes into account the candidate’s performance and the SOPs written by them. The shortlisted candidates are then asked to write Xavier Research Aptitude Test (X-RAT), a subject test, presentation and group interview, all of which are taken in Bhubaneswar (Xavier School of Management, Odisha). The rigorous channeling leads to the enrolment of only those students who demonstrate both dedication and ability in their areas of research. The presence of modem facilities and accommodation for mass communication programmes, competent staff and pro-employment curriculum are all clear evidence of the institution’s policy and vision to offer quality education to students who want to make a career in the media and communication industry.
