School of Distance Education, The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

School of Distance Education is an affiliated school of the English and Foreign Language University located in Hyderabad, India. This institution which was established to offer quality education in English and foreign languages through distance learning targets students who cannot afford fixed schedules. Situated in Tarnaka, Hyderabad the school is affiliated with EFLU which specialises in language courses. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), thus the institute is run with compliance to the standards set within the country. 

There are many facilities available in the School of Distance Education to help a student in his/her educational process. It has a well stocked library on campus, with a variety of materials in language and literature for students to use. For the students who need to find a place to live on campus, there are five hostels including for Indians and foreigners respectively and there are different sections for boys and girls. The health centre has medical doctors available from 8am to 8pm to attend to the medical needs of the university community. Also, learning facilities are avails to ensure modern ICT is used for learning, and sports amenities are also offered to cater for the student’s extra curvature. At present, there are guest rooms to accommodate the visiting faculty and the student’s families for convenience within the compound.

However, at the moment, only Masters Degree offered by the School of Distance Education and that is the Master of Arts in English via distance learning. The students who choose or have a need for distance learning can benefit form extensive knowledge of English literature and language offered in this two-year postgraduate course. I would assume that the programme offers a spectrum of offerings in English literature, linguistics and language teaching methods. 

Due to the admission flexibility of the School of Distance Education, the admission process for the MA English programme is designed for distance learning students.The institute may perhaps consider the performance in the relevant undergraduate programmes as one of its premier considerations in choosing the students to accept in the institute. In addition, being a UGC-approved institution, the school may accept scores of national level entrance exams although the name of the tests have not been captured in the data set.
