School of Energy and Environmental Studies was set up in 1990 as a constituent of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. This is an autonomous institution accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education AICTE; it focuses on energy and Environmental issues and is the one of the institutions in the country that offers technical education along with research. Situated at the Takashashila Campus, the school has now established itself as the centre for sustainable energy and environmental management. The institute has two full-time faculty with 3  postgraduate and doctoral programmes to meet the needs of students interested in combating global energy and environmental issues.

School of Energy and Environmental Studies also offers various features of the school, which were established with the view of improving the learning process of the stduents. The school has been equipped with two air conditioned class rooms fitted with multimedia projection for educative and interactive purposes. Having an up to date operational computer laboratory, wired with internet connection, keep the students informed with the latest trends. The library acts as an intellectual resource centre and Air Conditioned Seminar hall with a seating capacity of 75 is used for academic deliberations and portrays. To increase the net connectivity, several Wi-Fi facilities are established all around the campus which help the students to access all kinds of internet facilities.

In total, the School of Energy and Environmental Studies provides 3 full-time curriculums, all of which were developed to respond to the current need for personnel specialised in energy management and environmental studies. The programmes are M.Tech. in Energy Management, Ph.D. in Energy and Environment Management, and M.Sc. Energy and Environment. The M.Tech programme in Energy Management which is the flagship course has an approved intake of 18 students, thereby implying that the institute will continue to maintain the student-teacher ratio as well as offer quality education.

According to the programmes of the School of Energy and Environmental Studies, admissions differ. For M.Tech in Energy Management enrolment is done through GATE and as per the Rules and Regulation of respective state government.
