The School of Law is a recently affiliated college of the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, Chennai which was set in the year of 2019. Situated on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR) at Padur, Chennai, it is a co-educational institution of legal learning that has made its presence felt rapidly in the field. BCI, The school is approved by Bar Council of India, currently offering LL.M 4 Year Course approved by BCI. At present the School of Law has a strength of eleven full time professionals to train the aspiring legal brains with a wide range of under graduate and post graduate programmes in law.
Campus of School of Law is for the students has been planned in a way to give them right atmosphere to learn and grow. This one is well-equipped with modern facility, including technologically advanced teaching infrastructure in every classroom present. One of the key physical assets of the school is a munch understated, yet functionally well-endowed moot court hall suitable for developing students’ advocacy talents. It also has a good library stocked with Indian and foreign journals and reports, case commentaries, handbooks, legislations, assorted law reports and specialized law treatises. As for entertaining needs, many recreationally playing facilities are provided for students including indoor and outdoor playing fields making sure that students do not exhaust their studies without having proper exercise.
The School of Law provides all manners of course to fit all kind of legal training needs. At the time of writing these, the institute offered 8 courses in 5 degree programmes. These are three under graduate Programmes that is BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons) & LLB with a total admission capacity of one hundred and twenty each. Under post graduate level, the school provides LLM programmes in International law, Corporate Law, Constitution and Administrative Law. For the community oriented individuals who wish to engage in research the school offers Doctor of philosophy – Law which is offered full-time and part-time as well. The variety of these programmes means that students can select the programme that most closely aligns with their career goals in law.
The School of Law also has standard admission procedures through which it chooses the best students for its programmes. As per the norms predefined for those new age courses like BA LLB (Hons) and BBA LLB (Hons), candidates must have passed their 12th standard with 55% of marks. It has taken based on the merit in the national-level entrance examination, such as CLAT or LSAT and interview through group discussion. For admission to the LLB programme, the candidates who have passed any degree with more than 50% marks also have to appear for a group discussion and a personal interview. The school also offer merit cum means scholarships up to 40% on CLAT/LSAT/+2 scores, so as to make quality legal education affordable. As much as there are no definite dates provided when admissions are open for the next academic year, the school has opened admissions for 2024.
