The School of Legal Studies is one of the constituent college of RIMT University, Gobindgarh, A leading North Indian University which aims at offering legal education. This institution is established in Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab and is recognized under Bar Council of India or BCI that checks that all the educational standards of this institution are extremely high and suitable for law field. Concerning its academic programmes, the school has undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes to help any professional interested in practicing law to achieve their goal.

The physical infrastructure of the School of Legal Studies includes all amenities and infrastructure that are needed for students’ learning and growth in campus. A multistory library serves as an academic profile of the institution that contains numerous books, and it possesses a rich legal collection of library books and reference works. Further, the school has adopted the use of Information and Technology where students are allowed to borrow a laptop or take a mobile phone to a digital school library. For practical training the institution has a moot court facility whereby students practice advocacy skills in light of a mock fully furnished courtroom. The physical facilities are well-developed, including the specific Internet service center provided with 25 computer systems The students are connected and provided with Internet access which is critically important for preparation of the legal materials.

The School of Legal Studies lists seven legal courses for study across six different levels of degree. The undergraduate programmes include the standardised three years programme of LLB and integrated five years programmes of BA LLB, BBA LLB, and B.Com LLB. All of these programmes have been blessed with an approved admission capacity of 60 students for every course year, something that the school has vowed to uphold in order to contain class sizes and encourage quality learning. The LLM programme is provided for the learners who would wish to further their knowledge in law. Also, for learner-focused education and research activities, full-time and part-time Ph.D. programmes in Law are open with a cohort of 8 students for each programme to promote complex legal study.

The admission process of the School of Legal Studies is a holistic one that considers merit factors of the candidates applying for a programme. There is no indication of any specific entrance examination for the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through the Ph.D. programmes of this university have standard admittances procedure. Aspiring doctorate students are expected to sit for an entrance examination that quizzes their information, intelligence, analytical ability and legal knowledge. This means that the research programmes will only be able to admit students that possess the right academic abilities and research capacity.

Therefore, the School of Legal Studies aims at not only imparting knowledge, but also to educate students. Campus Facilities includes Cafeteria, Multi-Cuisine Food Court, Medical Facility-Nursing dispensary & ambulance service, Financial Facility –On campus ATM & Banking facility. It also has a good alumni, relations department good enough to pull relationships between the existing students and those already in the legal practice. For the students who commute from other areas around the university transport provision is well enhanced for students. We have 120 buses, using which our campus is well connected to places like Patiala, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Mohali and other towns; therefore reaching for day scholars is not a troublesome issue. Given its broad- based curriculum, modern amenities and pragmatic approach to the teaching of law, it prepares efficient and capable legal personnel in the quest for defining the field of law.
