School of Nursing St Joseph’s Hospital, Choondal, established in 1978, is in stand alone college in Thrissur, Kerala. It is a coeducational nursing college endorsed by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) which provides a specific nursing education course. Governing an area of 8.5 acres, the school boasts of a strength of 119 students and 15 members in the faculty. The institute offers only one course in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) which, shows that institute has more focused on nursing. 

School of Nursing St Joseph’s Hospital has endeavored to offer students with a complete package of learning. The institute has quite many facilities that could be of aid in improving the learning environment. A good reading room provides student with all the necessary information also houses a departmental laboratory for practicals. The campus has an auditorium for events and seminars to support the academic activities of an active campus. In this regard, to improve the learning of students, the school provides all the following sporting facilities to the students. The institute also provides a health centre for students’ welfare with provisions of first aid.

This is a three-year programme and it provides the foundation for all academic courses offered at the institute, and has an approved capacity of 50 students per year.
