SDP College of Teacher Education, Tihu, was established in 1994 and is one of the leading teacher training colleges situated in Tihu Town, Nalbari, Assam. This is a co-educational college affiliated with Gauhati University to act as a college that is focused on providing educationists for the future. Situated on an extensive area of 7 acres, it has recognised the college from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) of teacher education. These include a total student enrolment of 200 and faculty of 13. This college provides an appropriate student-teacher ratio for education learners.

The student enrolment in the B.Ed programme has been approved for 100 students and 50 students for the D.El.Ed programme. The admission requirements at SDP College of Teacher Education are competitive, and applicants are enrolled on a merit basis. To pursue B.Ed., the candidates are required to sit for Gauhati University common entrance tests.
