SDP College of Teacher Education Tihu was established in 1994 is one of the leading teacher training college situated at Tihu Town, Nalbari, Assam. This an co-educational college affiliated to the Gauhati University to act as a college that is focused on providing Educationists for the future. Situated on an extensive area of 6.9157 acres, it has recognized the college from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) of teacher education. SDP College of Teacher Education offers two comprehensive teacher training programmes: whereas others are holding the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) as well. Both are two-year full-time courses intended to prepare students for professional teaching practice at an appropriate school. The student intake in the B.Ed programme has been approved for 100 students and 50 students for the D.El.Ed programme. The admission requirements at SDP College of Teacher Education are very competitive and applicants are enrolled on merit basis. To pursue B.Ed the candidates are required to sit for Gauhati university common entrance tests.
