Education plays an important role in today’s social development, hence Senthamil college, Madurai, Tamil Nadu which was started in the year of 1957 is one of the premier co-astal educational institution in this southern part of India. This affiliated college, affiliated with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) comprises undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Senthamil College has a small land area of 1 acre, the total number of students is 625 and the total numbers of faculties 13. Currently, the institute offers 7 courses under 6 degrees in the field of Tamil language and literature, computer applications, and Gandhian studies. Students of the college are 71% male and 29% female.student of ug level are 88% and pg level student are 12%.

A large hall that was established in the course of the college’s diamond jubilee year 2018-2019 has a seating capacity of up to 600 people and is used for various assemblies and carnivals among other activities. The college's IT infrastructure includes 41 computers, with 30 located in the 600 sq. ft. computer centre, maintaining a computer-to-student ratio of 1:10. Wireless Network connectivity and Local Area Network facilities are provided for major areas of the institution including the Library and Computer Centre. Besides, there are learning resources such as a library and teaching laboratories in every department, a canteen for students, and guest rooms for faculties and students’ relatives.

The acknowledged programmes that are taught at Senthamil College are as follows: The institute has under graduate, post graduate, M.Phil and Ph.D programmes and even diploma and certificates ;- MA Tamil , P.hD Tamil and DCA etc. There are in all 7 courses taught in this college and it aims at teaching and learning process of Tamil language and literature, computer applications and Gandhian studies. The regulations have not been precise about the actual numbers of seats for each course but the total student turn out for all the programmes is 625. The college has recorded a 100% graduation rate of the students that it produced in the latest set showing success rates were high for students.
