Seshasayee Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Consequently, Seshasayee Institute of Technology (SIT) Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu established in 1952 is an autonomous institution. Recognized by AI CTE, SIT provides choice of diploma and post-diploma courses in various faculties of engineering. The institute occupies the area of 12.676 acres, with total enrollments of 1006, including the faculty members of 18. SIT offers seven full-time diploma courses in Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Civil, Computer Engineering and Paper Technology.

SIT Tiruchirappalli boasts of well equipped infrastructure that accommodate the needs of the students in their learning process. The institute has equipped well equipped modern laboratories to provide practical training facilities with state of art instruments. Comfortably equipped classes give adequate background knowledge in theoretical concepts.

The computer centre in SIT provides high-speed internet connections to encourage technological innovations and to update student on new advances in their respective fields of study. The institute is fully accredited and provides seven programs of study all of which being full time diploma programs. They are Diploma in Mechanical engineering, Electrical and Electronics engineering Civil engineering, Computer engineering, Instrumentation and control engineering, Paper technology and post Diploma in Plant engineering. The normal time taken to complete most diploma courses is three years, except for the Diploma in Paper Technology, which takes four years and the Post Diploma in Plant Engineering takes one and half year. The total approved intake for the all the course offered in the university is 326 students per year.

For joining the Seshasayee Institute of Technology the first criterion is merit in academics and then they give a counselling. However, the dates for examinations are not given, academic performance is used by the institute to award admission to its diploma programs. SIT Tiruchirappalli has provisions for boys’ hostel and girls’ hostel where students from far off places get residential facilities. 

The hostels are safe, carefully designed to ensure student concentration and optimum studying conditions, comfortable and equipped with all necessary facilities. The placement cell of the institute too has major responsibility of increasing the employment potential by conducting the workshops, interviews and resume writing sessions.
