SGBIT Belgaum: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

S G Balekundri Institute of Technology (SGBIT), was set up in year 2008, is one among the leading engineering college in Belgaum, Karnataka. This affiliated college established by AICTE intends to deliver a large variety of engineering courses in their 10 acres college campus. SGBIT has a total intake capacity of 1,560 students, and total teachers’ strength of 105; thus a good number of students in a class are taught one teacher. Queens’ Institute offers 13 courses at three different levels of degree, focusing on diverse branches of engineering including computer science, electronics & communication engineering, electrical & electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, Civil engineering and covering state-of-the-art courses in artificial intelligence, and data science.

This work has given S G Balekundri Institute of Technology a solid foundation of encompassing learning to the students. Academic and personal amenities available at the institute include . The library, that forms a part of the support of any academic institution, contains over 35000 volumes, 3700 titles and over 5000 e-journals from across the international frontier. For accommodation the college has Boys Hostel and Girls Hostel with a total of 481 rooms which is fully furnished for the students. The campus has also well equipped laboratories, a gymnasium, sports facilities and a canteen of the Institution. Health care from two resident medical officers who are mandated to attend both male and female students. Free Wi-Fi, a 30 Mbps broadband connection, and a conducive environment for learning make the college’s IT element very functional.

Currently the institute teaches 13 courses which include undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. USGBIT offers Bachelor of Engineering (BE) programmes at the undergraduate level these include the following fields Computer Science and Engineer, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Artificial Intelligence Data Science, and Computer Science and Business Systems. In its present setup, the college offers the postgraduate programme of Master of Technology in Structural Engineering. Furthermore SGBIT has introduced Ph.D. programmes in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Electronics and Computer Science & Engineering. All undergraduate programmes offered are full course programmes, which take four academic years to complete.

SGBIT follows the admission policy defined by the Government of Karnataka for admission to any of its programmes. The seats are allocated through three main channels: Through Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 45%, through the Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED-K) entrance test 30% and the remaining 25% through management quota basis. The institute also recognizes scores of other competitive exams like GATE and Karnataka PGCET for different courses.
