Shadan Women’s College of Engineering & Technology (SWCET) was started in 2002 and is a woman’s engineering college situated in Hyderabad, Telangana. This is affiliated college located in a 1.5 acre area, now offers a number of engineering and management courses. SWCET is affiliated with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and nationally recognised by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Boasting total student enrolment of 1,216 family and 111 staff members, the college offers 11 courses of 3 programmes and focuses on engineering and management disciplines.

Shadan Women’s College of Engineering & Technology classes are well-equipped practical amenities to cater for the college activities. The library has a collection of over 26,689 volumes, 108 Printed Journals/Magazines and Internet Resources include DELNET Science Direct. Students are have efficient laboratories, sufficiently illuminated and spacious classroom that can accommodate 60 students, a digitalised library to which student connect via the campus area network. The college also has a specially built 400-seater with technical and cultural facilities for Holding technical and cultural events as well as a cafeteria with intercontinental foods and a play ground and court for overall personalities. Safety and health are highly valued and catered for with the health centre within the campus, and a gym.

SWCET is well equipped with 7 B.Tech programmes, four B.Tech specialisations, and MBA and M.Tech courses. The B.Tech programmes include Artificial Intelligence and Data Science , CSE, IT which offer 60 to 180 intakes for the students. The M.Tech programmes with 18 to 24 seats each are offered in Computer Science and Engineering and VLSI and Digital Systems. The MBA programme actually has a total enrolment of 60. Every course is full-time and that has remained the college’s policy of offering concentrated quality education.

SWCET has a strict admission process in which candidates compete for any available vacancies. For B.Tech programmes, the applicants can apply through JEE Main or through TS EAMCET entrance Exam conducted for admission in engineering, agriculture and medical courses in Telangana state. The AICTE · (M-Tech admissions including the JNTU Hyderabad) The M.Tech admissions are through either the GATE score or the TS PGECET score. Candidates who want to pursue MBA can write a number of exams such as CAT, MAT, CMAT, and TSICET. The college also awards scholarships; 560/929 first-year students and 46/73 postgraduate students were reimbursed in the 2023 academic year. Due to its focus on the quality education of women and specifically, STEM graduates, SWCET is worthy of mention in the region.

Shadan Women's College of Engineering and Technology (SWCET), Hyderabad, is one of the best institutions in engineering and management courses for women.  Typically, the admission process at SWCET takes place in the months prior to the opening of the academic session, around August/September. Actual submission of applications would depend on selected entrance exams on a national and state basis, depending on the program of study under consideration. Most admissions for undergraduate programs are offered based on TS EAMCET or JEE Main marks commonly accepted. The postgraduate admissions are based on TS PGECET for M.Tech. and TSICET for MBA. Eligibility for admission to B.Tech programs, in general, is a pass in the 10 + 2 examination conducted by any recognized board with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects. 

For admission to any of the relevant postgraduate programs, the candidate has to possess an undergraduate degree from a recognized university. The eligibility criteria may slightly differ for the various programs, but they are generally published in the notification of the concerned entrance test. The relevant dates pertaining to admissions, for example, dates for application start, exam dates, and result announcement, will generally be according to the schedules for TS EAMCET, TS PGECET, and TSICET. Therefore, the candidates are advised to keep checking these relevant dates and deadlines from the official websites that are maintained for each of the entrance exams and SWCET.

Application Process

The application process for SWCET varies from program to program:

For the B.Tech program;

  1. Candidates need to qualify in the TS EAMCET or JEE Main examination.
  2. The candidates should then register online for the TS EAMCET counseling.
  3. The candidates have to fill out the application online for admission and pay the prescribed fees.
  4. Candidates are required to upload documents mentioned in the application guidelines.
  5. Attend counseling if shortlisted.
  6. If offered a seat, candidates will proceed with document verification and admission processes at SWCET.

For the Masters's degree;

  1. Candidates need to qualify in the GATE or TS PGECET examination.
  2. Apply through the TS PGECET counseling.
  3. Candidates fill out the online admission application and pay the application fee.
  4. Upload the required documents in the GATE/TS PGECET score card and educational certificates.
  5. Attend counseling if shortlisted.
  6. If a seat is allotted, report to SWCET for admission formalities.

For MBA programs:

  1. Candidates qualify TSICET or other accepted entrance exams (CAT, MAT, CMAT).
  2. Candidates register for TSICET counseling.
  3. Fill out the online application form and pay the requisite fee.
  4. Upload relevant documents, including the entrance exam score card and educational certificates.
  5. Attend counseling if shortlisted.
  6. Complete the admission process at SWCET if selected.

Commonly required documents for admission include:

  • Passport-size photographs
  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • Degree certificates and mark sheets (for postgraduate programs
  • Entrance exam scorecard
  • Caste certificate (if applicable
  • Domicile certificate (if required)

Commonly, the selection mechanism is based on the merit generated from the respective entrance test, following which a counseling round is organized for seat allotment. Candidates are advised to carefully abide by the instructions presented to them when seeking admission during the counseling round.

Admission Process Degree wise

B.Tech: The B.Tech programs in Computer Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science, Information Technology, and Electronics and Communication Engineering are offered at SWCET. TS EAMCET mainly handles admissions into these programs. Scores of JEE Mains are also considered. The approved intake for these different particulars of B.Techs is 480 in total. For this B.Tech admission scheme, a candidate must have passed 10+2, with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects, and must have appeared in the entrance exam.

M.Tech: The M.Tech programs are in Computer Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, VLSI, and Computer Science. The selection takes GATE on a national level and TS PGECET on a state level into consideration. The allowed master level intake is 84 seats in total. Candidates will also need to possess a B.E. or B.Tech degree in a relevant stream for eligibility.

MBA: There are 60 seats available for admission into the MBA program at SWCET. The entrance exam for the MBA program is the TSICET, and it also considers national entrance exam scores like CAT, MAT, and CMAT. A 25% aggregate in the TSICET is required, while SC/ST candidates can have any score.
