Shanmuganathan Engineering College (SEC), was set up in the year 2001, is an engineering college in the village of Thirumayam in the district of Sivagangai, Tamil Nadu. Bachelor and Master in engineering is available at SEC which is associated with Anna University, Chennai. The facility of the college consists of the area of 25 acres and it is NAAC accredited. SEC also has a total student intake of 567 and faculty of 55 which makes a good technical education environment is provided to all students. The institute has 9 courses shared between two degrees, for specializations in engineering disciplines like Computer Science & Engineering Computer Science & Information Technology Electronics & Communication Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical & Electronics Engineering.

It offers M.E. programmes Computer Science and Engineering and Post Graduate Structural Engineering for its college at the postgraduate level. Undergraduate programmes of admission in Shanmuganathan Engineering College is basically done on the ground of conducting Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling for admissions. For B.E./B.Tech admissions, candidate must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent exam and the minimum marks prescribed for the course should be obtained by the students. The TNEA counselling is another way of admission through counselling conducted by the state authorities. Of course, other classifications like ladder intake can also be sought by diploma holders.
