SCS was commenced in the year of 1956 at Vidya Nagar, Gulbarga, Karnataka and it is one of the prestigious colleges of Karnataka. This affiliated college with NAAC accreditation provides the various undergraduates and post graduates courses in science streams. Located at a spacious twenty three point twenty one acres, SCS is a co-educational institution of one thousand total enrolled students including three hundred and thirty six faculty members. 

To this end, the college understands the importance of having modern infrastructure to improve student learning outcomes. The total number of books in the SCS comprises approximately 46000, along with 35 journals /magazines and 12 newspapers for the satisfaction of students’ academic curiosity. There are spacious and well equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Statistics and Computer Science, Electronics for which the U.G.C. has provided assistance both for equipment and modernizing the Laboratories. Furthermore, the college provides research laboratories for teaching staff who undertake minor and major research undertakings. At post graduate level, M.Sc programmes in Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science are offered in this college.
