Shillong Polytechnic, which was started in 1965, is one of the most popular technical college situated at Mawlai Kynton Massar, Shillong, Meghalaya. This affiliated college approved by All India Council for Technical Education has been producing technical talent for over fifty plus years. Located in a huge campus of sixteen point one acre of area, Shillong Polytechnic has all the favorable condition that is required for a prosperous academic world. It has a total population of 501 students and 27 members of faculties; and the Institute is in a good student-faculty ratio. Thus, being devoted to the practical learning of technical disciplines, Shillong Polytechnic has 1 degree programme and offers 6 courses.

Shillong Polytechnic provides a total of 6 courses and all courses are diploma full time courses. These comprises of five 3 year diploma courses in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering. Besides, the institute also has a Post Diploma in Information Technology for a duration of 2 years. The annual turnover of students enrolled across all courses is 190 while Civil Engineering scooped the highest number of 60 seats. Although the separation of graduates for the latest year is unknown, the enrollment of the institute is 501, which shows there is continuous intake of technical talent in the job market every year.
