SMVITM Udupi: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

The SMVITM was founded in 2010 and is an independent engineering college in Udupi Karnataka. affiliated college located across 70 acres of land, currently providing Students a spectrum of undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses. SMVITM has got the membership of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and has got approval from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The institute has an enrolment of 1280 students and is staffed by 88 faculty members, thus the institute has an ideal student teacher ratio. SMVITM has a programme portfolio of 7 programmes over 2 types of degrees, majoring in engineering and management.

The institute has equipped with most of the necessary equipment to foster students’ academic and other aspects of development. The campus boasts of affording adequate laboratory facilities necessary for practical training in different fields of engineering. Central library for the campus occupies three floors, where there is a collection of more than 28 000 reference and text books, e-books and periodicals. Students can view the e-journals and have advantage of the VTU EDUSAT program in the e-learning room. For the needs of those residing away from home, SMVITM offers basic hostel accommodation for both male and female students so as to afford adequate time to study.

SMVITM has a total of seven programmes that include six B Tech programmes and one MBA programme. All undergraduate engineering courses are full-time courses which take four calendar years to complete, while the MBA in Business Analytics is a two-year full-time programme. The total student enrollment capacity of the institute in terms of courses offered is 1,125. Out of all the offered B.Tech courses CCS along with ECE holds the maximum B.Tech seats in ECE where the seats are 120 OF 180 in CCS. The new majors in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science each have a total capacity of 60 students.

The admission process in SMVITM is dependent mostly on examinations, which are conducted to select the right students for admission. Undergraduate programmes accept students with a CET conducted by KEA or COMEDK UGET for engineering students. The institute also provides a management seat to the students, it implies that students can directly contact the college and appear for an entrance examination conducted by the college. It also accepts scores from KCET which stands for Karnataka Common Entrance Test. The college give out scholarships to deserving students, 56 students were reimbursed in the academic year 2023. Exact details of the alumni are not stated but from the year 1975 onward the institute is said to have provided manifold numbers of technocrats to many sectors of the industry.
