Being an affiliated college, Shri Mathuradas Mohota College of Science, Nagpur, was established in 1949 as one of the most prestigious institutions for higher education in Maharashtra. The college campus is vast with an area of 6 acres. The college has NAAC accreditation which shows the institute’s aim to provide quality education. At present, the college has a student enrolment capacity of 1255 along with a faculty count of 61. Affiliated with Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur, this private college offers 28 courses in various streams of study. 

The facilities afforded at Shri Mathuradas Mohota College of Science strives to develop a space for overall development of students. The library is well stocked with a vast collection of books, references, journals and newspapers. It is equipped with ICT based services like OPAC and INFLIBNET, and also, has activities like Book Bank Scheme. Shri Mathuradas Mohota College of Science, to meet various academic interests of students, offers a wide range of courses ranging from undergraduate to doctoral programmes. At the undergraduate level, the college has courses in Science and Computer Applications streams. The undergraduate courses include 17 B.Sc courses and one BCA course in full time mode which takes three years to complete. Various M.Sc courses are offered in fields including Mathematics, Physics, Zoology, and Chemistry. For those who wish to pursue research, the college provides four Ph.D courses in Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, and Botany with a maximum duration of 6 years and a minimum of 3 years.
