Shri Shivaji College of Agricultural Biotechnology, Amravati, established in 2004, was the first college to be involved in imparting agricultural biotechnology education. Shri Shivaji College of Agricultural Biotechnology offers a four-year full-time B.Tech Biotechnology with approved intake of 100 students. The said programme shall acquaint the students with a strong foundation of the principles of Biotechnology and their applications in the field of Agriculture.

The admission procedure for the B.Tech in Biotechnology course in Shri Shivaji College of Agricultural Biotechnology is done by MCAER, Pune Maharashtra Council of Agriculture Education and Research. It will be compulsory for the prospective students to appear in Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET), which is mainly conducted to select candidates for admission.
