Shri Shivayogeeshwar Rural Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital –Belgaum, Karnataka is an esteemed institute involved in the teaching of Ayurvedic system of treatment and practice. It is a co-educational college which was started in 1996 and has been promoting future professionals in Ayurvedic medicine. Located on a large piece of land of 26.3 acres, the college aims at providing a number of courses in the field of Ayurvedic education. In total, students IQ consists of 344 people and there are 44 members in the faculty, and due to this, the Institute can guarantee individual approaches to studying, hence, quality education. The establishment of the college is recognised and approved by the Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM) this ensures that the institution and its courses compete with national standards in imparting education in Ayurveda.
Shri Shivayogeeshwar Rural Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital has very many facilities that are unique and serve to complement the learning of the students in the institute. University has provided different hostel facilities for boy’s as well as girls ‘with mess arrangements for out station students comfortable accommodation. One of its most significant strengths is the 175 teaching bedded hospital which affords plenty of emphatic clinical exposure. The college library can only be described as an informative library that comprises of a number of books and journals, accompanied by an Online ‘library’ that also has access to the world wide web. The college leads students to 14 departments with fully amenities, demonstration and practical laboratories, dissection hall and teaching pharmacy for the Ayurvedic students. Indoor sports, Gym, and an auditorium for all round development of the and enhancement of the students as well as for organising various events provides the IT infrastructure and canteen facility where in students can enjoy their food with flexibility.
SSR Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital has in total of seven courses to students across three degrees. All courses are of the full time nature which stands in harmony with the activities of the institute providing exhaustive education on Ayurveda. The largest programme is the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, (BAMS) for which the council has approved an intake capacity of sixty students. Further, the college has established six postgraduate courses where for each programme, the college takes 5 students so that they can specialise in different fields of Ayurvedic system of medicine.
