The present college named Shri Siddeshwar Government First Grade College, Nargund was established in the year 1966 at Nargund, Gadag District of Karnataka state. This affiliated college situated in the area of 11.33 acres is rendering its services of providing educational facility to the region from last 50 years. College has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) under which college promises to deliver quality education. Consolidated with a total enrolment of 1,429 students and a faculty strength of 21, the institution participates 16 courses spanning 6 degree programmes thus catering multi- disciplinary academic and career needs of the students.
Shri Siddeshwar Government First Grade College has put in place many facilities that are meant to facilitate learning and the growth of our college’s students. The central focus of these facilities is the college library which was put up at the same time as the college in 1966. Located in an independent structure since 2017 the library owns around 35000 volumes of books including text books, reference books and book bank. All the requirements of the library are met by e-Granthalaya solution, which allows students to choose books, journals, and online databases. Also, the facilities are well endowed with practical laboratories, an event and seminar hall and well-developed information technology resource to support the college’s Information and Communication Technology technology.
Shri Siddeshwar Government First Grade College consists of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The institution offer 18 full time programmes out of which 6 are bachelors degree and 10 are masters degree programme. Among the undergraduate programmes offered are B.Sc programmes in combinations like Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry; Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Physics Mathematics and Computer Science. In the college, BA courses are also taught in various combinations also students can opt for History, Criminology, Political Science, Economics, Sociology where as language groups are Kannada, Hindi and English. For commerce students there is a B.Com programme present. The college offers masters degree the following postgraduate programmes, M.A History and M.A Economics, M.Sc Mathematics and Physics, M.Com.
