Shyam Shiksha Mahavidyalaya, Janjgir, came into existence in 2011 and is a co-educational institution located in Damaudhara Gunji, Sakti, Janjgir-Champa, Chhattisgarh. This affiliated college has recognition from the National Council for Teacher Education, New Delhi, and is also accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. It has a compact campus of 1 acre and imparts education in three specialised programmes having a total enrolment of 365 students. The strength of the faculty is 26, and the institution has maintained a very healthy student-to-teacher ratio. 

Shyam Shiksha Mahavidyalaya is an institute dedicated to providing quality education in the field of teacher training by offering full-time courses in B.Ed, M.Ed, and D.El.Ed. Looking forward to providing its students with better learning experiences, this institute prides itself on offering a variety of facilities. The library is well-stocked with over 4,500 books and subscribes to more than 20 journals to provide a rich resource for acquiring knowledge. It has a variety of laboratories specialising in science, mathematics, social science, work experience, language, computer science, psychology, and educational technology. It provides the students with facilities for practical training in various aspects. It also has an auditorium to hold events and seminars, a cafeteria for refreshments, a health center with first-aid facilities, a gym for physical well-being, and sports facilities.

Shyam Shiksha Mahavidyalaya provides a very concentrated collection of three full-time courses in the area of education. These programmes satisfy the needs of different levels of teacher training, from elementary to higher education. The sanctioned total intake of all courses put together is 200 seats, comprising B.Ed. with 100 seats, M.Ed. with 50 seats, and D.El.Ed. with 50 seats. All these programmes are designed to be of two years duration, thus providing comprehensive training to future educators.

The Admission procedure in Shyam Shiksha Mahavidyalaya is based on Merit, which depends on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and entrance examination. Admission to B.Ed shall be made as per the policy framed by the State Government/UT Administration or the concerned University to which the Institution is affiliated. The Admission to D.El.Ed shall follow the same pattern according to the guidelines prescribed by the State Government/UT administration. Selection for admission to M.Ed may be based on entrance examination or any other criteria as decided by the State Government/Policy of University/UT administration.
