Siddhartha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Narasaraopet, is one of the premier institutions in the field of pharmaceutical education, started in the year 2007. Students have access to 215 national journals and 216 international journals, besides e-journals through the DELNET Consortium and Gale Cengage Learning. Holistic development is taken care of at the institute, which is evident from the sports facilities and the well-equipped laboratories that provide hands-on experience in various pharmaceutical disciplines. A health centre with first-aid facilities looks after the students' health, while the IT infrastructure allows support for modern learning methodologies. On-campus facilities also include a cafeteria and an auditorium for various events and seminars, thereby making the atmosphere of studies active.
The institute offers a gamut of pharmaceutical courses both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. There are seven full-time courses under three degree programmes: B.Pharma, M. Pharma with different specialisations, and Pharm.D. The B. Pharma course is the corner stone of pharmaceutical education and is offered with an annual intake of 100 students. At the postgraduate level, M.Pharma is offered in Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Assurance, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, and Pharmaceutical Management and Regulatory Affairs with specific intake capacity. The Pharm.D programme, a six-year doctoral course, further improves the institute's academic portfolio.
Siddhartha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences follows a principle for the admission process wherein the institute selects only the most promising students for various programmes. It admits B.Pharma students on the basis of performance in the entrance examination conducted at the state level, AP EAMCET. The aspiring postgraduate students apply through the Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test or the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT). These entrance exams assure that only those students who have a strong foundation in pharmaceutical sciences get enroled in the programmes.
