About SMR East Coast College of Engineering and Technology, Thanjavur

The SMR East Coast College of Engineering and Technology, Thanjavur, India started in the year 2010 is an affiliated college in Tamil Nadu. This establishment is located on a vast land of 16 acres and it is AICTE approved. Currently, the college provides three under graduate engineering courses in which a total of 85 students are admitted and the college is staffed with forty faculty members. SMR East Coast College of Engineering and Technology is a college that aims at offering quality Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering to the society and its members to meet the emerging demands for engineers.

The college has state-of-art facilities to support the learning process and personal/guardian of students in and out of class. A sizable library is needed for a minimum of 11,000 volumes, 2,500 titles, 40 national and international journals required for the faculty members’ knowledge repository. For the out station students, the institution has made provision for the accommodation of the sexes under different hostels for boys and girls respectively.

It also has well-equipped science and computer laboratories of the college which is well equipped to render the needs of student experiments. For recreation and health facilities for sports are made available for students so they can balance more on theiracademic activities and games. In addition to the basic facilities, the campus also has a facility for hosting events and seminars, multi cuisine cafeteria, and strong IT support for application of digital literacy.

SMR East Coast College of Engineering and Technology functions full-time under graduate engineering programmes of study few in number. The institution currently provides three courses of Bachelor of Engineering (BE): Department of Civil Engineering, department of Computer Science and Engineering and department of Mechanical Engineering. All these programmes have been accorded a clearance to take in thirty pupils, making the total number of positions of all courses equal to ninety. The programme of studies of the college is well thought out in such a way that it offers the students a basic platform of the engineering world as it operates today while at the same time being developed to answer the needs and trends of the engineering market and technology in general.
