Smt. VHD Central Institute of Home Science College Bangalore, it was set up in 1961 is an affiliated college situated at Bangalore, Karnataka. This English-medium co-educational college, situated in a sprawling 4-acre campus, provides courses of study in 32 different specialization areas in 8 courses leading to degrees in home science and related disciplines. The college offers education to a total of 1,850 students and is staffed by 30 qualified and committed members of the faculty. The college also provides the following combinations for the Bachelor of Arts – Home Science in combination with the following subjects Psycology, Economics, History and Sociology. Programs for Management and Commerce ensure that there are differing forms of BBA and B.Com courses for learners. The college provides postgraduate degree in Sociology and many M.Sc courses in different strands of Home Science which includes of Early Childhood Education, Extension Education and Communication, Food and Nutrition, Family Resource Management, Human Development, and Textile and Clothing. For the research lovers, the college offers the doctoral degrees in Home Science and Sociology. Though, the total approved intakes for all courses are not described, some of the course are B.Sc in Chemistry, Botany and Zoology- 60, B.Sc in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, 30.
