Social Aid Improvement and Mass Action/ SAIMA set up in 1992 an affiliated college based in Kodala in Odisha. This school for both boy and girls is special school whose major task is to offer specialised education to our society mainly the children with mental retardation. SAIMA is a private institution located on a 5.04 acre campus The college offers three programmes for student to earn a degree in special education. It has a faculty member of 10 members which makes it not only rigid, but flexible enough to give individual attention to the students. SAIMA boasts in offering a number of amenities to help the student’s education process. The institute provides the facility of hostels and accredited distinct hostel for male and female students. Chinmay Hostel for boys has a capacity to accommodate fifty boys and Ira Nibas Hostel for girls is capable to accommodate seventy girls. Maa Amrit Mayee Granthagar is an essential aspect of the college, which has more than three thousand Computerised Books. Beside, SAIMA runs a Mobile Library Facility in L. Raghunathpur to its reach out programme and initiatives for the rural people. Facilities at the institute include latest IT amenities, department based labs and well lit SOP furnished classroom to impart both practical and theoretical knowledge.
It provides three programmes: the Bachelor of Science in Special Education major in Learning Disabilities, the Bachelor of Science in Special Education major in Mental Retardation, Integrated Special Education, and one Master of Science in Special Education major in Mental Retardation. These are a Bachelors degree in Education [B.ED), Master’s Degree in Education [M.ED), and a Diploma in Special Education Mental Retardation [D.ED). While, the annual intake capacity of the B.Ed programme is 30 students, M.Ed programme on the other hand for 10 students. The programmes take two years of study and give students a profound understanding of their chosen area of study and different practicing skills.

The selection criteria at SAIMA are objective and involve the number of marks scored in the qualifying examinations and/or admission tests. In respect of B.Ed and D.Ed, admissions are made as per the rules of the state government or UT administration. The M.Ed programme comprises of the candidates taking an entrance test after which merit is taken into consideration.
