About Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital, Pallikaranai

Sree Balaji Dental College & Hospital, or SBDCH, was set up in the year 1989, located in Pallikaranai, registered in chennai, Tamil Nadu. New to this constituent college, the statutory membership to Dental Council of India (DCI) means quality dental education is imparted here. SBDCH provides various dental courses that consist of one undergraduate degree and eight postgraduate programmes to for dental student. The college has an aggregate enrolment of 390 students and 96 members of the faculty who create a suitable learning atmosphere for learners intending to practice dentistry.

The college has put in place very many facilities to help the student in their learning and personal development. The centrally air-conditioned library has over 18,138 books and 160 journals to support dental research and studies facilities. These are available for use by the students from 8 am to 10 pm during the week and from 8 am to 8 pm during holidays. For sports lovers, NMDC has well-furnished ground for volley ball, basketball, and cricket, besides having indoor shuttle and table tennis courts. The college also has different hostels for the boys and the girls; the boys’ hostel is about a walk distance from the university, while the girls hostel is within the compound of the university. each hostel provide virtually all room types, such as air-conditioned rooms and suite rooms, which are furnished in current fashionable styles.

SBDCH develops a large number of dental courses, the most popular among which is the 5-years BDS course, as well as several 3-year MDS courses. The college offers a total of 9 courses at two levels of degree.

Entry into SBDCH is on merit and is done according to a laid-down procedure. The candidates aspiring to join the BDS programme need to fulfil NEET norms set by the National Testing Agency. To be eligible for postgraduate aspirants who wish to take admission in any dental college in the country, they have to clear NEET-MDS conducted by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.

Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital (SBDCH) and situated in Pallikaranai, Chennai, has a stringent and merit-sensitive admission process for its dental courses. Being a constituent college as approved by the Dental Council of India (DCI), SBDCH adheres to high-quality dental education through its complete admission process.

The admission process of SBDCH generally follows the national dental admission schedule, which typically starts in the months after the NEET and NEET MDS exam results. For undergraduate admissions, SBDCH considers the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) scores, whereas postgraduate admissions are considered on the basis of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDS (NEET MDS) scores.

For BDS course, the candidates should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as main subjects. The admission is done on the basis of the candidate's NEET score and the counseling process thereafter. For MDS courses, the candidates should have a BDS degree and pass the NEET MDS exam held by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.

Application Process

Application procedure at Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital differs for undergraduate and postgraduate courses:

For BDS Program:

1. Pass the NEET exam held by the National Testing Agency.
2. Register for the state-level or all-India counseling process, as applicable.
3. Choose SBDCH as a preferred college during the counseling.
4. If allotted a seat, report to SBDCH for document verification and admission formalities.

For MDS Programs:

1. Appear and qualify in the NEET MDS examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.
2. Register for the MDS counseling process (state-level or all-India, as applicable).
3. Choose SBDCH and preferred MDS specialty while counseling.
4. In case of allotment, get admission at SBDCH.

Degree wise Admission Process

BDS: The BDS course offered by SBDCH has a capacity of 100 seats. Admission is made on the basis of the NEET score of the candidate. Candidates eligible for admission should have passed 10+2 with Chemistry, Physics, and Biology and should satisfy the eligibility requirements as per the National Testing Agency laid down for NEET.

MDS: SBDCH provides several specializations in MDS with individual seat distribution:

  • MDS in Crown and Bridge and Prosthodontics (4 seats)
  • MDS in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics (4 seats)
  • MDS in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics (4 seats)
  • MDS in Periodontology (4 seats)
  • MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (4 seats)
  • MDS in Oral Medicine and Radiology (3 seats)
  • MDS in Paedodontics and Preventive Dentistry (2 seats)
  • MDS in Oral Pathology and Microbiology (4 seats)

For all MDS courses, aspirants need a BDS degree and pass the NEET MDS exam. Admission is through obtaining a qualifying percentile in NEET MDS and then the counseling process.

Admission documents to be produced normally are:

  • NEET/NEET MDS scorecard
  • Mark sheets and certificates of 10th and 12th class
  • Mark sheets and certificate of BDS degree (for applicants of MDS)
