Sri Aurobindo College (Evening) was established in 1984 and has completed 40 years of growth and achievements. The college is named after Sri Aurobindo Ghose, who was born on 15 August 1872 in Kolkata. In 2017-18, Sri Aurobindo College (Evening) was ranked among the top 150 Higher Education Institutions by the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the Ministry for Human Resource Development. In 1988, the college started admitting women students. 

Initially, it offered courses in BA. (Pass) and B.Com. (Pass), but later introduced courses in B.Com (Hons.), BA. (Hons.) Hindi, BA (Hons.) Applied Psychology, BA. (Hons.) English, and BA (Hons.) Economics. Admission to Sri Aurobindo College (Evening) is entrance-based and requires scores of CUET-UG. The placement cell helps students get jobs in various sectors and industries. Students can apply for scholarships under various schemes provided by other institutions/ State Govt and Central Govt.
