In 1995, Sri Balaji Polytechnic College was set up by the visionary Sri G. V. Velu, who actually wished to see himself set up a prestigious technical institution in the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is affiliated with Anna University for all academic purposes. This sprawling campus on 11 acres of land, amidst a supportive and serene atmosphere, offers an excellent technical education hub to Chennai. The AICTE-recognised institution has a distinct position in giving high-quality training under its diploma courses in engineering fields. Sri Balaji Polytechnic College has a total of 940 enrolled students, with a faculty strength of 74 members, thus ensuring a student-teacher ratio to facilitate personal attention and effective learning.

There are many facilities that make learning an enjoyable experience at the institution. The backbone of the academic resources lies in the library, which is well-stocked with technical literature and reference materials for students to refer to.
