Sri Ram Institute of Teacher Education (SRITE) was set up in 2007 with the aim of providing quality teacher education in New Delhi, India. Located in the Dwarka sector of the capital city, Delhi, this is one of the co-educational institutes preparing future teachers. SRITE functions as an affiliated college, and it achieves the recognition of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), proving the quality of its education. The institute at present has an 8-acre campus, which is an ideal place for learning. The total student enrolment capacity is 162 students, while the faculty members currently stand at 16, hence giving SRITE a good student-faculty ratio.
It is also proud to exhibit a variety of learning amenities that are useful in improving further education of the learners. The modern, equipped library stores thousands of books that could help future teachers in their profession. Regarding health and safety, first aid facilities are provided since there is a medical centre within the campus. SRITE also focuses on the health of the students; it has sports facilities for all students. In terms of IT infrastructure, the institute is well experienced and up-to-date with modern technological trends.
The student can take snacks at the university canteen; this serves both the staff and the students. In order to foster practical learning, SRITE has the departmental labs for every department. The institute also possesses a lobby for events and seminars as well as encourages an active learning college community. There is adequate parking space for cars from faculty, staff, and students because everyone will always need a convenient parking space.
Sri Ram Institute of Teacher Education comprises two B.Ed. programmes that are full-time. The B.Ed programme is open for 100 students, while the D.El.Ed programme is open for 50 students. Both of these programmes are aim at preparing students and endowing them with all the knowledge and skills required to become professional teachers. These courses take a two-year duration, and because of this, they offer intensive training and exposure. Combined with only two courses and two degrees available to the public, SRITE is more or less intertwined with specialised education in the teaching field.
Degree Name | Total Number of Seats |
B.Ed | 100 |
D.El.Ed | 50 |
Before making their decisions, Sri Ram Institute of Teacher Education admission officers take procedural considerations into account. Since it is a university degree course, selection is purely on the basis of past performance in the qualifying examination. In some circumstances, entrance examinations or other screening methods may be used based on rules that have been laid down at the state government, UT administration, and the affiliated university level. In this way, only really willing and motivated people can get a chance to become educators they have always wanted to be.
Further details regarding scholarships in general are not available; however, students interested in this institute should contact the institutes for any kinds of scholarships they offer. This paper shows that SRITE’s role in the preparation of education professionals upholds the best quality in education teachers and is helpful to the sector through shaping teachers who can bring about positive change in learners throughout the country.
