Sri Thiyagaraja Institute of Teacher Education, was started in the year 2012 and located at Thiruvarur Tamil Nadu, is a pioneer institute in imparting teacher training courses. This co-educational institute established on a campus area of 4.96 acres is affiliated and a NCTE approved college. This institute is one of the strands that aims to provide quality education for its student populace; for this, it only accepts 200 students in total while the faculty consists of fifteen members; it has two programmes that focus solely in the education strand. Sri Thiyagaraja Institute of Teacher Education offers two full-time courses: The existing qualification include B.ED (Bachelor of Education) and D.EL.ED (Diploma in Elementary Education). In the current academic session B.Ed programme has a sanctioned strength of 100 seats and D.El.Ed programme has an intake capacity of fifty. The two courses take two years and offer the necessary preparation to future teachers. By focusing on these two programmes, the institute is able to provide a special concentration on the preparation of teachers and other graduates for careers in the education domain.
