Sri Vasavi College of Education, Erode abbreviated as SVS, was set up in the year 1967. Erode is the territorial headquarters of this affiliated college which has an area of 12.26 acres. SVS currently has a total student enrolment of 2,450 with a faculty of 112 In addition SVS offers 68 courses across 12 degree programmes. The college is however accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council abbreviated as NAAC, whose role it is to assess and accredit institutions of learning. It also has a near equal gender distribution where men comprise 55% of the students in the undergraduate while 45 % are females; 54% males and 46% females in the post graduate level.

Consequent to the guidelines formulated by Tamil Nadu government Sri Vasavi College admission criteria entails merit admission system. It is not clear when exactly examinations take place but the college admits students into various degree programmes at any time of the year. SVS provides scholarship opportunities especially to post graduate students. In the academic year 2021—2022, 32 of 236 Postgraduate students were reimbursed.
