About Sri Vatsa College of Education, Mettamalai

Sri Vatsa College of Education was set up in 2008 and is at Mettamalai, Tamil Nadu. This is a coeducational college to which recognition has been given by the National Council for Teacher Education ( NCTE). Located in a 6 acre piece of land the college provides a >niche in teacher training. The college has enrolled 200 students in total and the faculty of the college is of 12 members and thus it can definitely provide a better environment for those who wish to become educators. The college currently only provides one Bachelors’ programme thus the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) a testament to the colleges specialisation in training teachers.

Sri Vatsa College of Education has numerous amenities that help in the college growth of the students. The library has adequate tex books, Ref books as well as has subscribed various National and International journals/books to support the student community needs. With regard to sports and games, the college has made appropriate provisions of playing fields for different games to ensure that students representing the college in state national level games indulge themselves in the sports activities. It also incorporates contemporary aspects such as an event and seminar hall, a staff and students dining facility, modern practicals which are well equipped laboratories. Special emphasis is placed on IT facilities although the student gets an opportunity to learn various technologies in education facilities. For the student who has challenged for accommodation, the college has both a boy’s hostel and a girl’s hostel to enhance comfort while staying there.

Sri Vatsa College of Education currently offers one full-time course: the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme is. This two-year programme has an approved intake of 100 students which is actually a measure of the College’s strategy to ensure that it produces quality teachers through focused intakes. The programme of B.Ed aims and prepares students to become effective teachers in different educational contexts.

Admission to the Sri Vatsa College of Education depends of merit, and the policies laid down at state government, Union Territory, and the University level. Generally recruitment is based on the percentage of marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or the entrance test conducted by the University.

2. Application Form: Interested candidates have to obtain and fill out the application form available online on the college website or at the college admission office.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.Ed (Bachelor of Education):
The B.Ed program at Sri Vatsa College of Education is a two-year full-time course aimed at educating the students in a teaching career. The college has 100 seats made available for this course competing intensely. The admission for the B.Ed. program is on a merit basis placing emphasis on the marks obtained at the qualifying examination. Usually, the eligibility criteria are:

1. A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
2. Minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination as per the norms set by the affiliated university and state government.

The candidates may be called for an entrance examination if there is a provision for it, in those applicable cases, by the state government or the university. The candidates will be finally selected on the basis of the qualifying examination result and the entrance test result (as applicable).
