Sri Venkateshwara Dental College and Hospital, Chennai: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

SVDC&H is the dental college which was started in the year 2007 located at Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The college is spread over a vast area of 10 acres and is a Recognised affiliated Dental College as per Dental Council of India. The faculty of the institute is comprises 157 members and the courses provided here are the dental ones at under-graduate as well as post-graduate levels. This is a way that the college has devoted a lot of effort on teaching dental education by offering various courses such as Orthodontics, Prostho-dentistry, Conservative Dental Surgery, and Periodontal Surgery.

Sri Venkateshwara Dental College and Hospital has a number of facilities which are truly equipped that will improve the learning experience of the students. The ‘Centre for knowledge’, the central library has a collection of 3260 books and 1097 back volumes and subscribes to 15 national and international journals. It also encompasses e-learning through EBSCO and ERMED databases. Labs for each college are well maintained and loaded with modern facilities and equipment that allow the students to learn practically. The boys hostel has 73 rooms and the girls hostel has 143 rooms which makes the total number of rooms provided for student accommodation for the institute. These hostels have all the basic needs facilities, such as electric and drinking water facilities like a 24-hour power supply by generators and drinking water through Reverse Osmosis technology. The campus also consist of a cafeteria and a mess catering college students’ meals by a contractor.

For the five recognised courses offered at Sri Venkateshwara Dental College and Hospital, two levels of degrees are presented. The BDS programme constitutes the primary component of the under graduate syllabi with the institute offering five derivative MDS programmes as part of their post graduate programmes. All courses are on a full-time basis because the institute offers only complete and intensive training programmes for dentists. 

Admission provisions in Sri Venkateshwara Dental College and Hospital conforms to admission provisions set within the country. To fill seats in BDS programme, the admission criteria include the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Under Graduate (NEET-UG). Likewise, all intake into MDS programmes is through pass in National eligibility cum entrance test for Masters of Dental Surgery (NEET-MDS).
