SSB Regional Institute of Science and Technology, Chitrada: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Department of Science & Technological Studies (DST) Recognised SSB Regional Institute of Science and Technology, Chitrada, Odisha was set up in 2009. An affiliated college, this AICTE approved institution provides six diploma courses in engineering disciplines. Situated over 12 acres of area, SSB RIST caters to 1509 students including the faculty members of 48. The institute offer diploma courses in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, computer science, Electronics and Telecommunication and Aeronatical engineering which take three years to complete. By choosing to serve technical education, SSB RIST has made the institution one of the noteworthy institutions in the region.

It boasts of having first rate infrastructures that may support the academic as well as the co-curricular needs of the students. Mess Arrangement – SSB RIST has hostels available for boys and girls which are well facilitated with comfortable and neat accommodation, neat and clean canteens and full time wardens who act as supervisors and facilitators. The campus includes a stocked up library, which hs great stocks of curricular books, personality development books & magazines and a fine, specialized reading room. There are well built IT facilities, departmental laboratories with all necessary materials, transports, and a canteen providing hygienically good food. The institute also has indoor sports facility, conference hall, health center, a fitness club, and few guest house for the faculty and visitors/family members. There is a reserved parking zone for academics, staff and students.

There are six diploma courses offered in SSB RIST of which all are full time programs. The institute has an approved cumulative intake of students in different courses to 480. The Diploma in Mechanical Engineering takes the largest number of students with 180 students for the year while electrical engineering takes second with 120 students. Civil engineering section has 60 intake, electronics and telecommunication engineering has 60 intake and computer science and engineering also has 60 intake. There is no set intake for Aeronautical Engineering though adding this course supplement’s the institutes range of engineering disciplines. To give the students the needed background knowledge on their areas of specialization each course is structured in a way that prepares them for future careers in the engineering industry.

The admission policy of SSB Regional Institute of Science and Technology is simple and each diploma course costs Rs. 17,400. Although named entrance exams are not stated, an aspiring student has to pay the requisite fees on entry into any of the institutions. Organized under the Training and Placement Cell, the institute provides immense aid to the students in their pursuit of secure and better job opportunities. Apart from this, a special cell is involved into serving Campus interviewing organizations, so that well arrangements and proper hospitable reception is provided to the officials of the concerned company. It has accessories that support the audio visuals for presentations, tests, group discussions and interviews thus preparing the students for employment immediately after College. Further, being a professional college the SSB RIST have good alumni base through which the current students might get opportunity to get internship or mentoring.
