St Bedes College, Shimla: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

The college, St. Bede’s College, Shimla was established in the year 1904 offer the course in the picturesque hills of Himachal Pradesh. This affiliated college, approved by National Assessment and Accreditation Council [NAAC], is a symbol of light of higher education in this area. With 31 classrooms on a 10.32 acre land, the college provides 14 different programs in 10 courses with total of 1179 students. The educational institution has been recruiting 56 highly qualified faculty, enabling the institution to offer an ideal teacher-student ratio.

This college boasts of well equipped learning facilities that aim at improving the learning outcomes of the students. The two-storied automated library occupies spacious area and contains more than 32000 volumes, 72 periodicals, 24 e-journals giving students rich opportunities to study. Internet and photocopying facilities are also available with an additional smart and very secure library possessing an archive section of 2500 old and very rare books. 

As for practical experiences, the college offers functional departmental laboratory for the students. The campus clinic equipped with First Aid facilities, Canteen for snacks, and provisions /_EXTENSION_/ Auditorium for events / Seminars. Students can also enjoy the use of college gymnasium, facilities for sports and games and internet connection throughout college premise.

St. Bede’s College provides almost all the undergraduate and postgraduate programs that are required to be provided by any college. There are 14 courses offered by the college, that is, full – time arts, commerce and science programs in a single stream. Some of the popular undergraduate courses are; BA (Hons) in Economics, English, Geography and Psychology, Self Finance courses BBA, BCA, B.Com and B.Sc in Microbiology and Biotechnology, LAW & MORE. On post graduate level the college offers Masters in English, Commerce and Science Botony. Also, to prepare teachers to teach at the District Level, the institution offers D.El.Ed programme. Programs may have different enrollments, while the D.El.Ed course can admit twenty-five students only.

Merits of students are given importance while admitting in St. Bede’s College by taking into consideration the marks of the students in the qualifying examination and or entrance test based on the rules and regulation of the state government. The D.El.Ed program admissions are conducted by merit in the qualifying examination/or entrance examination. 

The college also provides few reimbursement opportunities, for the year 2022 revealed that only 4 reimbursement recipients were undergraduate students. St. A total of thirty two percent students of Bede’s College are from other states which presents a colourful multicultural system in the college. It could be seen clearly that the institution supports the education of women with 100% of women students’ participation in both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This all-women’s college is also progressing towards it mission of educating young women with an charge and sensibility in the lovely backdrop of Shimla.
