St.. Peter’s Teachers Training College was established in the year 2005 and is an affiliated college situated at Kolenchery, Ernakulam district of Kerala. It is due to recognition by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and it focuses in serving teacher education programs. Located on a 4,870 sq meters piece of land, the college delivers profession specific education to the learners well. Currently, the student intake is 98 and the faculty strength is 8, thus, the students are given individual attention. St. Peter’s Teachers Training College endeavours to participate to the development of the future education and for this reason it offers B.Ed programme.
St.. Peter’s Teachers Training College has a number of facilities used to improve on the learning environment of the students. The facility is substantially the library; It has an extensive collection of 3542 books in different disciplines, periodicals, references, etc. The reading hall creates awareness or knowledge searchers. The college also avails well equipped laboratories such as Psychology, Zoology and Botany, Physics and Chemistry, Educational Technology and Language labs. In the case of technology-based learning, the IT system installed at the institute is first-class. Gymnasium and exercise grounds, an auditorium for carnivals and conferences also help make a balanced collegiate life on campus. The college also has hostels for boys and girls to accommodate out station students to make them feel at home. A first aid health centre is also accommodated to delegate attention to medical emergencies among the students.
Currently, only one full- time course, the Bachelors of Education (B. Ed) programme is offered by the St . Peter’s Teachers Training College. This is a two year programme for which the institute targets 50 students thus implying quality education within a small cohort. To enhance the potentials of the students for acquiring and effective professional careers in teaching, the composes of the B.Ed course plan for students accordingly.
