St. Raymond’s College Mangalore approved in the year 2009 is an affiliated college located in the beautiful city of Mangalore, Karnataka. This university is made of a small area of 3.08 acres of land making it easier to set up either in a small town setting or for a limited number of students. Presently, the school has 230 student enrolment and 10 teachers, which gives the school a close –knit academic environment. The college currently provides two undergraduate programmes: The two courses are three-year full time programmes, namely: Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) and Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA).
Like any college, St. Raymond’s College has made available facilities that are meant to complement the learning processes. The college features a considerable number of books and journals in the library fulfilling its role of providing literature for students and fellows. Of special interest for the sports incline and recreation lovers, the college boasts of having play-grounds for football, cricket, hockey, volley-ball and throw-ball besides having outlets for indoor games such as table tennis. The institution boasts of modern IT facilities in order to prepare the students for the modern world. Skills practices are offered in all the departmental laboratories, whereas the general auditorium can accommodate various events and seminars. The college also meets students’ daily requirements with a canteen which sells vegetarian and non-vegetarian meal, a mini supermarket that sells items such as stationary and photocopying services, Health centre which offers basic medical treatments.
When it comes to programmes the course offered in St. Raymond’s College do not lacks high quality but quantity. The college offers two undergraduate degree programmes: B.Com in 120 and BCA in 30. While both programmes are specifically aimed at awarding students a solid knowledge base of the respective fields to be applied in their future careers or for the students to advance their education further in the chosen fields. The capacity of students in both programmes is 150 which means that it is personalised for each student hence paying attention to each student’s process.
Admission to St. Raymond’s College therefore it is very easy and quite student oriented. For both B.Com and BCA programmes the admission is done by the Principal in consultation with the candidates personally interviewed. This helps the college not only test the academic background of the student, but also general suitability for our institution. The college has made education more affordable, but more information about scholarships has not been provided at the time of envisaging this research.
