St.Stephen’s College, Kottayam, an affiliated college started its journey in 1964 in Uzhavoor, Kottayam District Kerala. Being spread over 12.5 acres the institution has been accredited by NAAC – National Assessment and Accreditation Council. St. Stephen’s provides a total of 13 courses for five degree programmes where student enrolment counts 924. The college has almost equal ratio of boys and girls where 433 are boys and the number of girls is 448. The institution has a teaching staff of 34, ensuring a good student to teacher ratio. St. Stephen’s is an undergraduate and postgraduate learning institution with 85% of the students in the undergraduate study programme and 15% in the postgraduate study programme.

St.Stephen’s College has a list of learning amenities, intended to augment the learning process of students. The library which is a vital source of academics has a collection of more than 31,000 books and 150 periodicals. It has been made computersed to provide xerox facilities where it becomes an extensive research centre.  St. Stephen’s College has also provided well-equipped laboratory for different departments so that they can learn practically. Chazhikattu Hall, the college auditorium, with a seating capacity of over thousand is mainly used for all the college functions. On IT oriented learning facilities, English Language Lab in St. Stephen’s is up to date with modern installations typical of computers, DVD players and LCD screens among others.

The course offered at St. Stephen’s College include the total of thirteen courses, out of which few are undergraduate and postgraduate. The institution has nine full time undergraduate programmes and four postgraduate programmes. The profile of total student intake: There is an overall student enrolment of 924 across all levels and all courses offered in the programmes. Some of the popular undergraduate programmes are B.Com Computer Applications, B.Com Finance and Taxation, B.Sc in various specialisations like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, and the BA in Economics and English. At the postgraduate level, the college offers Masters degree in Science in Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science, and Masters in Commerce.
