St Vincent Colony Teacher Training Institute, Kozhikode: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

St Vincent Colony Teacher’s Training Institute is situated in Kozhikode, Kerala, which is a dedicated institute for the training of teachers. This co-educational institution was started in 1947. The institute is located over a small area of 3 acres and it is approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The admission capacity of the institute is upto 65 students and the faculty is of 5 members so it provides small environment which is beneficial for personal and professional development.

This institute feels privileged to offer a number of variety of facilities to make student’s learning experience better. A well developed library plays an important role in the learning process by providing important resources for learners intent on becoming teachers. The campus consists of an auditorium that facilitates many events and seminars, which make the campus environment productive. To promote physical health needs of the students, sports facilities are also provided for balanced study. The IT facilities also are well developed with par excellence in a view of today’s technological improvement in education. Laboratories are required to meet per practical learning requirements and independently hosted boys and girls hostels help accommodating out station students. St Vincent Colony Teacher’s Training Institute has a canteen for preparing and selling of foods and drinks while a health centre with first aid amenities takes care of college members.

At present, there is only one full time course offered by St. Vincent Colony Teacher Training Institute and that is Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.). This is a two years’ programme prepares students for teaching profession particularly in the elementary education. This institute has a sanctioned intake capacity for 50 students for this course which shows the selectiveness of this course on providing teachers training. That the institute offers this particular programme shows that though the institute majors in this programme it is selective in the programmes that it offers.

St. Vincent Colony Teacher Training Institute has objective admission system which follows the guidelines of the state government of Kerala to admit capable students. Candidates for admission apply to the colleges on the basis of their merit obtained in the qualifying test and this is usually the higher secondary or it’s equivalent exam which is the 10+2 exam. Thus, it is also possible to take an entrance examination, passing other stages that may belong to the list of admissions as well. This all embracing criterion guarantees that the institute gets to admit students who have the ability to be good teachers.
