St. Xavier's College of Education, Patna, was started in the year 1988 and occupies a premier position as an autonomous institution of teacher education. This co-educational campus is spread over 2.56 acres and is situated at Digha Ghat, Patna, Bihar. St. Xavier's College, duly accredited by NAAC and approved by NCTE, offers various courses in education. This college has a total student enrolment of 273, backed up by a faculty of 26 experienced teachers. The institution runs across three different degree programmes—B.Ed, M.Ed, and Ph.D. in Education—and serves aspiring teachers at different levels of their academic journey.

 St. Xavier's College of Education, Patna offers three regular courses: B.Ed, M.Ed, and Ph.D in Education. The intake for the B.Ed. programme is 100 seats, and for M.Ed. it is 50 students. For Ph.D., the intake will depend upon the available opportunity in research. Admission to St. Xavier's College of Education is strictly on merit basis .For the course B.Ed., the B.Ed. colleges of State Universities of Bihar shall admit students through a Combined/ Common Entrance Test, CET-B.Ed. Each year the entrance test will be that one by of the State Universities of Bihar identified by the Government of Bihar. The entrance test for the M.Ed course would also be on similar lines as the Combined Entrance Test conducted by Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna. Whereas for Ph.D., admission is done based on performance in the Ph.D. Admission Test and an interview thereafter. These ensure that only the most meritorious and serious candidates get admitted to the college.
